TiltWatch® XTR QR is the connected version of SpotSee's most widely used tilt indicator. It works exactly like the standard TiltWatch XTR — changing from green to red if a shipment is tilted beyond 80° — and adds a QR code and a printed serial number to every indicator. Anyone receiving the goods can scan it with a phone to check its condition and capture an image of it. No app required.
What is TiltWatch XTR QR?
A single-use, tamper-evident tilt indicator that monitors one plane of orientation. If the package is tilted beyond 80° (±5°) in the plane it monitors, the indicator turns from green to red and stays red. It does not show the direction or exact angle of tilt — it gives a clear pass or fail.
- Visual alert: green to red, permanent and irreversible once triggered
- QR code on every indicator: scan with any smartphone camera (Safari, Chrome or Firefox) or a handheld mobile computer
- Serial number printed on the face, below "Scan on receipt"
- Arming and applying are one action: removing the adhesive backing arms the indicator
- Unaffected by normal handling, random vibration or aircraft take-offs, and tolerant of humid export conditions
What scanning adds
A standard TiltWatch XTR relies on someone looking at it and remembering what they saw. With TiltWatch XTR QR, a scan on arrival shows the indicator's condition on screen and captures an image of it at the moment of receipt — a picture and an identified device that can be tied to a consignment and to a damage claim.
If you buy the 100 pack, the box also carries a registration code that adds all 100 indicators to your own SpotSee Cloud dashboard, with scan history, time and location in one place. The 10 pack works by scan alone, without Cloud registration. See SpotSee Cloud explained: 10 pack or 100 pack?
When to use TiltWatch XTR QR
Use it on anything that must stay upright in transit, where you also want a record of the indicator's condition on arrival:
- Appliances and white goods — refrigerators, freezers, washing machines
- Machinery and mechanical equipment — pumps, compressors, motors, HVAC units
- Medical and laboratory equipment — imaging devices, optical systems, calibration-sensitive instruments
- Glass panels and tall or top-heavy items at risk of tipping or internal stress
- Products containing liquids that can leak or be contaminated if laid on their side
It is particularly useful where several parties handle a shipment, where goods cross borders, or where you expect to make claims — situations where a photograph and a serial number carry more weight than a description.
When the standard TiltWatch XTR is enough
If you only need a visual deterrent and a quick check by eye, the standard TiltWatch XTR does the same job. SpotSee is moving the range to QR, so the QR version is increasingly the supplied product. If you need to know how far a shipment was tilted rather than simply whether it went past 80°, look at TiltWatch Plus — see TiltWatch XTR vs TiltWatch Plus.
Installation best practice
- Mount on a rigid, vertical surface such as a crate corner or reinforced carton wall, so the reading reflects the cargo's movement rather than packaging flex
- Make sure the shipment is upright before applying — removing the backing arms the indicator
- Use companion labels to tell handlers the shipment is monitored (rolls of 200 and 500 available)
- Tilt is monitored in one plane; to cover both axes, fit a second indicator on an adjacent side
Specifications
- Activation: 80° (±5°), single plane
- Operating temperature: −40°C to +60°C; humidity 5% to 99% non-condensing
- Size: 74.27 × 60.31 × 5.29 mm
- Adhesive: 2 mil high-tack acrylic; 2-year adhesive shelf life
- Single-use; does not detect impact or vibration
Need impact monitoring too?
TiltWatch XTR QR does not detect drops or shocks. For full protection, pair it with ShockWatch® 2 QR, which uses the same QR scanning, and see our shipping damage protocol for what to do when an indicator has been triggered.
